a little about us....

Serafina is a romantic little gem perched at the top of Nob Hill. It is elegant, intimate, and authentically Italian.

The name comes from Maurizio’s grandmother, Serafina, and from her restaurant in Trastevere in Rome, where he began making pizzas at just fourteen. She was strong, an incredible cook, and a force to be reckoned with. She approached her cooking meticulously, with care and pride, exactly how we approach our kitchen today.

Our pasta and bread are made in house every single day. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is taken for granted. We work with fresh fish of the day from local fishermen, seasonal vegetables at their peak, and carefully selected Italian meats. The food is refined but never complicated. It is honest, balanced, and meant to be savored.

We have also built a wine list that we are truly proud of, with highly regarded Italian producers and thoughtful selections that complement the food beautifully.

Together with our partner Giuseppe and our chef Umberto Cannarsa, who brings years of experience from Rome, we have created a space where guests can slow down and enjoy an evening that feels special from beginning to end. We are incredibly honored to have been recognized by Gambero Rosso as one of the best Italian restaurants in the United States.
